We are proud sponsors The Ellen MacArthur Trust. The Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illness.
The Trust was launched by the internationally-renowned sailor Ellen MacArthur on 2nd January 2003.
The main activity of the Trust involves taking children suffering from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illnesses sailing for four day periods. The boats used are 38ft to 45ft cruising yachts, ideal for carrying groups of children, each night the boats stay at a different port and the children and crew live and sleep on board.
Sailing is perfect for these children – it gives them a chance to test themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Simply the experience of going out on the water for the first time is an adventure. Each child has challenge to help sail the yachts throughout the trips.
